Otherworldly

It probably won’t last over Christmas, but right now it is pretty and white outside my RL window as well, making it particularly appealing to setup another cosy holiday scene in SL too. For this one, I decided to use the dining set by also Known as from Redeux while I dressed warmly in knits from Applique Chic and the Plastik (I am also wearing a cute pair of heels that are matched to the leg warmers) and wore a new hair (with metallic antler accessory) from Wasabi. Poses are, once more, by Serendipity.

The last month of the year is here and I am busy with the usual stuff (decorating, baking, etc) and some unexpected complications (a lame horse), but once I get through this weekend I should have a bit more time to breathe at least. For today’s photos, perhaps I should have gone for a winter look rather than an autumn feel, but I really liked the look of this skin in deep reds and greens. So, I went for an autumn faun/satyr prancing through the woods and coming across a curious well with a sculpture of a little kinsman!

Working hats into my usual looks is often a bit of a struggle, so when the lovely Willow hair from Wasabi was released I did not have an immediate idea for what to wear it with. But then the Plastik released their new set for Collabor88 and that is how this go-go girl with a Western twist came about. Both poses are from one of Serendipity’s 30L Saturday offerings.

Just the other day I had reason to discuss the use of green as a colour to indicate the presence of magic, so it seemed fitting that I would make use of it here as I am showing off the latest fantastical gacha from the Plastik: Spidela. I have mentioned before what I think about spiders—and about having them all over my avatar!—but this is a pretty darn nifty set. It is very sword & sorcery, Spidela could have stepped right out of a Conan comic, and I think it went very well with this Necromancy pose & prop set from chanimations, an old favourite of mine. I also made use of the Petra Chamber add-on for Fanatik’s cave system as the backdrop for a suitably ancient and epic feel.

October has barely arrived and already Second Life is filling up with zombies, vampires, witches and whatever else that Halloween might bring. I am starting off gently in this post with just a hint of darkness in the Straight Jacket shoes from Adam n Eve and the Coffe couch & chair set by the Plastik, as well as an eyeshadow from alaskametro’s Black Magic set. Also featured is a new lingerie set from Voluptas Virtualis and a new hair from Wasabi.

It was a bit of a dilemma for me what to call this post. On the one hand, it does feature the Hair Fair releases by Calico. On the other hand, it also features the Lootbox gacha set by the Plastik. In the end, I opted for giving the Hair Fair the title spotlight as it is a charity event, with all purchases donating at least 15% to Wigs for Kids. However, once you have done your hair shopping, you should definitely check out the Lootbox gacha event as well if you already haven’t.

Hair Fair 2018 opened yesterday, offering four sims full of brand new hair releases (plus two additional sims for cam shopping). The Hair Fair website has all the information, including an excellent guide (with vendor pictures and slurs) to what is available on each of the sims, but here is the crucial bit:

Every pack of hair sold at Hair Fair donates a minimum of 15% to Wigs for Kids. If there is no sign stating a percentage, it will be the minimum. Bandanas and Hair Fair Hares donate 100% and any donations made to the kiosks around the event are 100% donations.

In this post, we are showing you the three new styles from Wasabi; Camila, Maddie and Cole. Camila and Maddie are female styles, Cole is a unisex style that comes in two versions, with or without a shaved side.

After debating it for a while, I recently picked up the Axis HUD from LeLutka. With this HUD you can make your own expressions for your bento mesh heads and no, it doesn’t just work on LeLutka. In this video, I demonstrate the HUD on three different heads: LeLutka Cate, Vista Zoe and Lightstar Maya. Full credits for what I am wearing can be found at the end of this post and I have also included two photos to show the outfit from On a Lark and the jewelry from the Plastik better.

The Maliana Fairy Gacha from the Plastik is gorgeous, intricate and huge. Collecting everything would take a lot of luck and persistence, but there are many cool individual pieces. What I am wearing here is actually far from all of it because there are a couple of different jewellery sets and I simply couldn’t fit it all in at once. If I had to pick a favourite piece, I would be hard pressed, though the two rare skins are very striking with their beautiful tattoos. The bento wings (which come with a HUD with a lot of pose and animation options) are also lovely and then there’s all the jewels! A short while back, I featured the Ladies’ Crowns gacha from the Dreaming Thicket. Now there is a matching Lords’ Crowns gacha out at Enchantment, which is also where you will find the Prince Lawrence outfit from Noble Creations. I didn’t go for any frogs in this scene, but rather setup a scenario of a King in Waiting standing beside the throne, waiting his turn.

The roses on this harness from deviousMind gave me the idea of using the flowery wall decor from the Plastik as the backdrop. There’s a hardness to the roses on the harness, especially in black, that I think matches well with the metallic decor flowers. I also used a bit of metallic makeup from alaskametro and tried to play with the light on it in the closeup.

I am still making my way through the LightStar heads and today I have Makeda to show you, a head with African features. As with all of the other LightStar heads, there’s a “companion” male head, in this case called Solomon. I do hope to show some more of the male heads as well but if it is a bit tough to find Omega skins for female heads it is 10 times worse for male heads. It may just have to wait for Bakes on Mesh to go live; in fact, I have tried several of these heads with some system skins in the project viewer and they work beautifully.

The final weekend of the Vintage Fair is coming up and I thought I would show another favourite item from it, namely the striking High Council set from Roawenwood. It is perhaps a little more vintage than most, but certainly right up my alley. I knew I had to blog it as soon as I saw it and I love how it looks in the build from Fanatik’s Medieval Village set. To play the part of the lonely ruler, I opted to switch to a male avatar, which also gave me the chance to show off one of the male heads from LightStar as well as the male version of the Elvenne skins from the Plastik.

Lootbox is opening today and I am giving you a taste of two new releases you will find there, from deviousMind and Luxuria. As usual, the Lootbox gacha will include lootbox rares that offer things like whole item sets, special item sets and so on, rather than just single rare items. I’ve paired the Lootbox items with a new hair release from Wasabi and a skin from the massive new skin collection at the Plastik. I also want to give everyone a heads-up about a price reduction for some of my favourite mesh heads, namely the LightStar heads.

The last Deco(c)rate shipped out a few days ago. I did not buy it this month, but I have subscribed a few times and will be sad to see it go, though it does seem like subscription boxes have a limited lifespan. I do have one item from the last crate to show you, however, namely the Vina Dining Set from the Plastik. While the theme for the crate was La Dolce Vita, I found that this rustic set of tables, benches and side table looked quite nice next to one of my medieval village houses from Fanatik. So, I opted for setting up a very rustic “garden party”, using some food props from Aisling.
